89 Wood Street
Hi, my name is Susan and I have lived in Barnet for all but the first five years of my life. I have two children and three grand children the eldest two go to Foulds School where I also started Barnet school life back in the early 60’s.
I have been privately catering for many years mainly for funeral receptions at many of Barnet’s church halls and in private residences and when there were smaller gatherings at The Tea Rooms. From there I went on to hold private Afternoon Tea parties for all sorts of events from birthday celebrations and retirements to girlie get togethers. With a passion for baking, socializing and entertaining what better place would there be for me to hangout so along with my partner we decided to transform 89 Wood Street into what we think is a beautiful setting decorated in soft pastel colours where tables are adorned with fine bone china and serving an array of daily baked savouries and cakes and topped off with home baked soft fluffy scones.
“I loved visiting The Tea Rooms. The atmosphere was great and Susan’s scones were the best I have tasted!”
Good ingredients make for great food
That’s right, and what could be better than having my Tea Rooms opposite Ravenscroft Park where I spent many an afternoon with all my Fould’s buddies after school back in the 60’s. So not only am I fortunate enough to be in this ideal location, I also get to cook delicious light bites every morning like my vegan cauliflower and chilli chocolate stew, bake an array of sweet and savoury scones along with the traditional sponges and a few different flavours like my courgette and lime, beetroot and chocolate or boiled orange and almond cake. Then there’s the free range eggs for my egg mayo (Hellmanns of course) and freshly poached chicken for my ultimate Chicken Club …. and …… if you are on a balanced diet, then just have two pieces of cake! I hope you enjoy my food as much as I do preparing it.
